Yangon started fisheries statistic and Data collection

Yangon, March 23

    By the support of FAO, DOF started fisheries Statistic and Data collections in Yangon Region. It is the pilot project and the whole country will be on collection for 2 years (2017-2018)
    “We are going to collect the data of inland fisheries such as fish ponds, Inn (leasable fisheries) and in the creek for fishing ground. And also the inshore marine fishery in Kunn Chan Gone, Khayan and Kyauk Tann are collected. It contains the production capacity, number of fishermenand actual daily catch amount” said U Thant Zin, District DOF officer of the Yangon Northern District.
    A training on the data collection and fisheries statics was opened in Institute of Fishery Technology of DOF in Yangon from 13 to 18 of March. It was coached by Mr. Gertjan de Graaf, FAO’s International expert and Prof: Dr. Mya Thandar of Yangon University.  18 DOF officers participated and after the training, the pilot project was started.
