Chicken consumption in Yangon slimmed by third due to reverberation of Salmonella
Yangon, Jan 23
Chicken consumption in Yangon nosedived by third for Salmonella repercussion, revealed U Khin Maung Lwin, head admin of Chicken & Duck Market in Mingalar Taung Nyunt township.
A petty news report steered the consumers to the turmoil about chicken purity. But, indeed, chicken originally accommodates Salmonella, it is just important to cook well, and this bacterium is not a problem, according to him.
Chicken consumption per capita in Myanmar lags behind the foreign countries as it just amounts to 6.8 kg for chicken and 80 eggs per capita per year.
Dull chicken prices attributed to deficient export market and demand were just already sluggish before Salmonella's case, said U Thein Myint, chairman of Myanmar Breeder Farm and Hatchery Association.
